About Our City

In Cudahy, friendly city signs greet you with its message of “Generations of Pride.” That’s because the city today is continuing its commitment to redeveloping the downtown area—which includes the bustling Packard Plaza at its heart—as community pride continues to grow. It’s also known as “the City with no Streets,” since most are distinctively named “Avenue.” Cudahy is home to six county parks, including Pulaski and Sheridan, and 823 acres of parkland in the scenic South Shore Community that also includes the neighboring cities of St. Francis and South Milwaukee. Other outdoor landmarks include Warnimont Golf, an 18-hole golf course and the city’s lakefront park with a popular trail for hiking and biking that was developed on land given by Patrick Cudahy to Milwaukee County. The city is named in honor of Patrick Cudahy, one of the original “Cudahy Brothers” who founded the meat packing plant of the same name in 1892 (which of course now is the famous Patrick Cudahy company and brand).
